A woman suspected of drunk driving after she struck a jogger in Pacific Beach has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol and to child endangerment, as her 3-year-old child was in the car. Amanda Mae Brodd, 27, of Oceanside, is expected to get five years in state prison, said Deputy District Attorney Matthew Dix on April 13. Sentencing is set for June 1 by San Diego Superior Court Judge Dan Link. The maximum sentence is 10 years. Brodd, who remains in jail on $175,000 bail, pleaded guilty just before she was to have a preliminary hearing. She had been freed on $100,000 bond after her arrest, but a judge increased bail to $175,000, and she went back to jail. Brodd also pleaded guilty to two counts of hit and run when she struck two parked cars Feb. 15 before she hit Brian Dewhirst, 23. Dewhirst, who was on a sidewalk on Crown Point Drive, suffered a broken pelvis and leg. Brodd also pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended license and resisting arrest. Dix said she lost her license because of another drunk driving offense in 2012. — Neal Putnam
