Fashion Week San Diego presented their Spring Showcase on April 22 at the Hotel Republic. Guests were greeted to tunes from Saxophone Music SD while entering the Hotel. Once inside, the happening began with a social mixer and entertainment by DJ Billy the Kid. The guests sipped on Cutwater and Topo Chico beverages courtesy of the sponsors. Master of ceremonies were Jodi Kodesh and Jonathan Harris who made the opening remarks and got the evening rolling.

First up was the Community Night where they presented a garment and headdress made by the Maasai women in Kenya. Next, they featured wedding gowns by Angel Tan and beautiful jewelry by Kendra Scott. Special guest Mario Bryant brought the audience to a standing ovation with his rendition of “O Sole Mio.”

The designers showed a preview of their collections that they will introduce at the Fall Fashion Show in October. The first designer to come down the runway was Dorothea showing off an example of her brand which is made from deadstock fabric and recycled textiles. Next up was My Generation introducing their custom prints on swimwear.

Marissa Rees showed her style with It’s Not Taken. SAULHO presented their premium men’s underwear designs that received a huge reaction from the audience… hot, hot, hot. Kyle Anderson introduced her creation Radiant Robes, which specializes in embellished kimonos. VaughnBerry showed off his menswear line on the catwalk.

Jumpball Apparel promotes the urban trend in basketball. The edgy gown by Francis Taylor came down the runway looking very sexy. Next came Pynk Pyneapple. The ‘y’ in Pynk stands for you, which means that you are more important than the cloth. Sierra Mitchell, who is not new to SD Fashion Week, showed off her fashion-forward brand.

Brittany Arriola introduced an aesthetic look for Odd Bird. Caroline Willard from CW Couture presented an amazing bridal gown. The final preview look was by last year’s top designer Nina Cicolo showing off her brand in vivid colors. The models looked incredible coming down the runway with hair created by Gila Rut Salon. All these designers will be back on Oct. 7 to show their full collections at the Andaz Hotel. For more information, visit fashionweeksd.com.
