Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD)\u2019s District Chef Todd Bull <\/span><\/span><\/span>has been named GUHSD’s Classified Employee of the Year. The announcement c<\/span><\/span><\/span>ame<\/span><\/span><\/span> as Classified school employees w<\/span><\/span><\/span>ere <\/span><\/span><\/span>celebrated <\/span><\/span><\/span>last week<\/span><\/span><\/span> throughout California during Classified School Employee Week.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

With a GUHSD career spanning <\/span><\/span><\/span>m\u00e1s que<\/span><\/span><\/span> 21 years, Bull has spent the last decade as GUHSD\u2019s first <\/span><\/span><\/span>D<\/span><\/span><\/span>istrict <\/span><\/span><\/span>C<\/span><\/span><\/span>hef, leading 10 kitchens across the District. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, Bull was a <\/span><\/span><\/span>C<\/span><\/span><\/span>ulinary <\/span><\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span><\/span>rts <\/span><\/span><\/span>t<\/span><\/span><\/span>eacher who was frequently asked to cater District events with his students. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

De acuerdo a <\/span><\/span><\/span>GUHSD Food and Nutritional Services Director Vince Scimone<\/span><\/span><\/span>, Bull \u201ctaught class during the day, and ran the restaurant class at night.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the pandemic, Scimone said Bull \u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span>W<\/span><\/span><\/span>ent to every school to help them set up drive-through operations that kept our communities fed during the most stressful and difficult circumstances in our lifetime to date\u2026 he has taught staff in our district how to cook for students and how to cook for themselves, always sharing generously of his time and expertise, but also his passion for food, nutrition and life-long health.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Mr. Bull is both widely respected and has a reputation as being extremely humble, helpful and a true servant-leader,\u201d said <\/span><\/span><\/span>GUHSD Superintendent Mary Beth Kastan<\/span><\/span><\/span>. \u201cKnown for working, at times, until 2 <\/span><\/span><\/span>a.m.<\/span><\/span><\/span> to organize a menu or logistics for a buffet, Mr. Bull\u2019s work ethic is legendary,\u201d Kastan added.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
