San Diego Wave FC lost its second-straight match this time at the hands of the Washington Spirit 3-1 at Audi Field on Saturday morning. The lone goal of the game for San Diego Wave came courtesy of forward Alex Morgan in the 90th minute after the match was already decided thanks to scores from Washington forward Trinity Rodman in the 55th minute, midfielder Ashley Sanchez in the 70th minute, and midfielder Page Metayer in the 79th minute.<\/p>\n

The loss drops the team, led by head coach Casey Stoney, to fifth place in the NWSL standings one point ahead of Angel City FC and four points behind the leader OL Reign. San Diego still has two more road games against Kansas City Current on May 14 and Houston Dash on May 20 before returning home to take on the Portland Thorns on May 26 at Snapdragon Stadium.<\/p>\n

\"2Albi\u00f3n San Diego<\/b> came out with the 1-0\u00a0 victory over Gold Star FC Detroit on Sunday in front of the home fans at Canyon Crest Academy thanks to a 41st-minute penalty kick conversion from forward Jonathan Bazaes after teammate Shinya Kadono drew a foul inside the box on Gold Star defender Leonel Palma moments earlier.<\/p>\n

The game started off very physical with both sides trying to impose their will and the referee blowing the whistle several times as goalkeepers Ben Roach and Brandon Barnes came up big throughout the first half.<\/p>\n

The final 15 minutes of the game saw Gold Star FC Detroit increase its pressure trying to find the tying goal. Still, the Albion defense made the necessary plays each time including a shot that was partially deflected by Roach, which ended up bouncing off the crossbar. What made the victory even more memorable was that Albion San Diego was left with only 10 players after midfielder Rasheed Willis, who had come in as a substitute earlier in the second half, was issued a red card in the 92nd minute allowing Gold Star FC Detroit to play with a one-man advantage for the remainder.<\/p>\n

Albion will take on Gold Star twice more this season with their next meeting coming on July 14 in Michigan and then again on Aug. 15 at Canyon Crest Academy. Albion now has four points after three matches with its next game coming at home versus the Savannah Clovers on May 14. The team, led by head coach Diego Gomez, then goes on a three-game road trip starting with a rematch against Chattanooga FC on May 24.<\/p>\n

On the same day that Landon Donovan was honored with an induction into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, \"3leal de san diego<\/b> gave the greatest player in the nation’s history a gift by coming out with a dramatic 2-1 road win over Orange County SC on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Loyal drew first in the 15th minute after forward Ronaldo Damus gave a perfect pass once he recovered a turnover deep in Orange County territory and found teammate Tumi Moshobane inside the box who beat goalkeeper Cody Cropper. San Diego Loyal extended the lead just a few minutes later when midfielder Nick Moon was taken down inside the box and teammate Joe Corona stepped up in the 19th minute to convert the ensuing penalty for the 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n

The second half was marred by several fouls and yellow cards, mainly on Orange County, and just when it looked like the Loyal would run away with the match, the fourth official signaled a whopping 15 minutes of added time. During that spell, Moon was issued a second yellow card, which forced his team to play a man down for the remainder and Orange County took advantage on the next play scoring on a header by forward Oluwakorede Osundina from the ensuing free-kick. San Diego Loyal managed to absorb the constant pressure from Orange County with goalkeeper Koke Vegas coming up big throughout and leaving Irvine with the three points.<\/p>\n

The Loyal now sits all alone in second place in the USL Championship western conference standings only one point behind the Sacramento Republic, which has played one less match. San Diego returns home to take on the Rio Grande Valley Toros on May 13 at Torero Stadium.<\/p>\n

\"4Arenal de Gomez<\/b> kept its playoff hopes alive on Saturday afternoon after coming out with a convincing 5-2 victory over San Diego City FC at Mesa College. Four of the ADG FC goals came courtesy of last season’s UPSL leading scorer Cesar Romero and the other came from midfielder Enrique Rodriguez. Arenal de Gomez was coming off a 2-2 draw versus Murrieta Soccer Academy in its previous match, which forced the team to win out in its remaining regular season games to make the playoffs and a chance to repeat as So Cal South Premier champions.<\/p>\n

ADG FC next plays San Diego Internacional FC at Mesa College on May 14 needing another victory to keep their postseason hopes alive. San Diego Internacional FC currently leads the So Cal South Standings with 21 points and is undefeated (7-0-0) this season.<\/p>\n
