Alvarado Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, has been recognized by <\/span><\/span><\/span>Grados de salud<\/a> <\/u><\/span><\/span><\/span>as a 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award\u2122 recipient. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alvarado Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is a 302-bed full-service, acute care hospital centrally located in San Diego adjacent to SDSU. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This distinction places Alvarado Hospital among the top 10% of all short-term acute care hospitals as evaluated by Healthgrades, <\/span><\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span><\/span> marketplace connecting patients and providers. This is the ninth consecutive year that Alvarado Hospital has won this award.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

For the eighth year in a row, Prime Healthcare, one of the nation\u2019s health systems, had more Patient Safety Excellence Award recipients than any other health system, according to Healthgrades.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If all hospitals, as a group, performed similarly to the 2023 Patient Safety Award recipients, on average,\u00a095,880 patient safety events could have been avoided.*<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During the 2019-2021 study period,\u00a0164,592 potentially preventable patient safety events occurred among Medicare patients in U.S. hospitals.* Healthgrades found that\u00a0just four patient safety indicators accounted for 74% of all patient safety events: hip fracture due to an in-hospital fall, collapsed lung resulting from a procedure\/surgery, pressure or bed sores acquired in the hospital, and catheter-related bloodstream infections acquired in-hospital. Healthgrades\u2019 analysis also revealed that patients treated in hospitals receiving the <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
