Helix Charter High School held its first annual Trades Day Career Fair recently.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Lauren Knuth, community relations & engagement coordinator at Helix, the event went well, showcasing a lot of community members. \"helix\"helix<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNosotros had representatives from construction trades (Electrical Union, Sheet Metal Union, ABC Trade School, Assoc. of General Contractors), law enforcement and city jobs (LMPD and La Mesa Public Works), the military (Air Force, National Guard), realtors (SD Association of Realtors), cosmetology (Color Collective Salon, Artisan Kings – owned by Helix alum Homer Mauga), youth job training (SD Workforce Partnership) and Grossmont & Cuyamaca colleges,\u201d <\/span>Knuth stated. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Knuth pointed out that all students got a BINGO card that they used to learn about each career and then got to spin the wheel for gift cards and snacks. Representatives from the College & Career center were at the wheel and talking with each student about what they learned. Emily Burrough and the ACE club (Architecture, Construction & Engineering) volunteers were a huge help all day. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Knuth, the school is excited to make this event an annual tradition. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
