Supervisor Nathan Fletcher <\/span><\/span><\/span>recientemente<\/span><\/span><\/span> announced endorsements from La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis and City Councilmembers Colin Parent, Jack Shu, and Patricia Dillard for his bid for the open 39th District seat in the California State Senate.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Mayor and three La Mesa councilmembers \u2013 all Democrats \u2013 add to Fletcher\u2019s growing list of local elected officials who are strongly backing his campaign early in the race. The Mayors of San Diego and Lemon Grove, as well as all nine San Diego city councilmembers, announced their support for Fletcher earlier this month.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis <\/span><\/span><\/span>noted, <\/span><\/span><\/span>“Nathan Fletcher is ready to get to work for La Mesa. He\u2019s committed to protecting the quality of life for residents, protecting small businesses, investing in our schools and creating sustainable middle class jobs that can support La Mesa families. He’s been an excellent partner as County Supervisor and I look forward to what we can achieve together when he\u2019s our State Senator.”<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

La Mesa City Councilmember and Vice Mayor Colin Parent <\/span><\/span><\/span>added, <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>Supervisor Nathan Fletcher has been a fierce advocate for a people-oriented and positive imagination of San Diego County\u2019s future. As Chair of MTS, he has shepherded important changes like improving frequency of public transit, and completing the Mid-Coast Trolley. He\u2019ll continue this important work in the Senate and I\u2019m proud to endorse him.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fletcher is the first Democrat to serve as Chair of the County Board of Supervisors in decades.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He<\/span><\/span> previously served from 2008 to 2012 in the State Assembly, where he authored Chelsea\u2019s Law, landmark public safety legislation to protect children from sexually violent crimes. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
