Point Loma Nazarene University welcomed more than 800 alumni and friends back for this year\u2019s homecoming festivities on Feb. 17-18. This year was the 50th anniversary of PLNU\u2019s move from Pasadena to San Diego.<\/p>\n

The weekend included recognizing 8 alumni<\/a>\u00a0through the Distinguished Achievement and Alumni Spotlight program and presenting the Rising Alumni Award to two undergraduate students who represent the alumni stars of the future.<\/p>\n

Saturday morning kicked off with the third annual \u201cWe Are Loma 5K,\u201d which raises money for student scholarships. More than 70 alumni participated virtually from across the country, including Clarice Prescott (74), who is 92 years old and walked the race in her retirement home in New Holland, Pa.<\/p>\n

That afternoon, guests walked around the Greek Amphitheatre and Campus Mall where they could shop from alumni and student vendors, listen to live music and enjoy the family fair filled with carnival games, bounce houses, and a Ferris wheel.<\/p>\n

Saturday night, Golden Gym was packed where alumni and current students cheered on the men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball teams taking on Hawaii Pacific. Nationally ranked No. 8 men\u2019s basketball won its 30th-consecutive PacWest game in record-breaking fashion<\/a>, hitting a program and conference record 22 three-pointers in a 120-74 win.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
