Designed for individuals looking to complete or further their education, the rankings evaluate online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs at regionally accredited institutions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The online education master\u2019s program at San Diego State University tied for seventh best in the nation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Unveiled nine years ago, SDSU\u2019s program has increased to more than 100 student each year. Close to 500 students have graduated from the program heading into this school year.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More institutions than ever before submitted data for this year\u2019s edition, resulting in the largest number of programs ever included (1,832). Among the eight disciplines included in the rankings, criminal justice saw the biggest increase, from 83 to 95.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Best Online Programs include rankings of bachelor’s programs as well as the following master’s-level disciplines: MBA, business (non-MBA), computer information technology (including computer science), criminal justice\/criminology, education, engineering and nursing. While the <\/span><\/span><\/span>methodologies<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> are different for each discipline, they all incorporate metrics specific to online learning.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Alongside the rankings, U.S. News offers resources such as the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Online College Compare<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span> tool for researching and comparing distance education programs. U.S. News also publishes year-round <\/span><\/span><\/span>editorial content <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span>with advice on topics such as financial aid, time management and trends in online education.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
