Although all businesses nominated by committees receive an award from OBMA, members and the community had the opportunity to vote for the &#8220;People&#8217;s Choice Award&#8221; in each category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a lot of community participation this year, which always makes it fun,\u201d said Kristen Keltner, OBMA event and program manager. \u201cOur theme this year is Ocean Beach where the Sun Sets in San Diego, so the awards celebration had a lot of bright colors to honor our local businesses who shined bright in 2022.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>People\u2019s Choice Award recipients:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Clean &amp; Safe Committee People\u2019s Choice Award \u2013 Tony Cohen for supporting graffiti abatement in Ocean Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Design Committee People\u2019s Choice Award \u2013 OB Hardware for their updated storefront &amp; branded window signage.<\/p>\n<p>Economic Vitality Committee People\u2019s Choice Award \u2013 OB Business Center for spearheading the revitalization of the OB Mall.<\/p>\n<p>Promotion Committee People\u2019s Choice Award \u2013 California Wild Ales for being one of the most active promoters in Ocean Beach.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Flash Customer Service Award (a three-way tie this year) \u2013 The award goes to the business that the community and OBMA members felt best exemplified the spirit of OB and shined in 2022 by reflecting positive awareness, and activity in the community through their exceptional customer service: California Wild Ales, OB Business Center, and OB Hardware.<\/p>\n<p><b>Other awards included:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Volunteers of the year: Craig Gerwig, Ken Moss, and Michele Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<p>The Mike Hardin Like a Boss Award: Steve Rowell for contributing to Ocean Beach\u2019s history through photography.\u00a0Check out all the 50-plus award recipients at <a href=\"https:\/\/oceanbeachsandiego.com\/\">oceanbeachsandiego.com<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ocean Beach MainStreet Association members, volunteers, and community representatives gathered at the Masonic Center on Jan. 26\u00a0to honor local businesses at OBMA\u2019s annual awards celebration.
