From learning new hobbies to eliminating bad habits, New Year\u2019s resolutions can help start the year off right. To jump-start, health and fitness goals in 2023, San Diego Oasis is holding its annual in-person \u201cFitness Palooza\u201d event to help local older adults kick their new year off with a positive, active and mindful beginning.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHoliday remorse\u201d can lead to setting unrealistic health and wellness resolutions as a guilt-driven response to indulging during the giving season. Studies show that by the second week of February, <a href=\"https:\/\/health.usnews.com\/health-news\/blogs\/eat-run\/articles\/2015-12-29\/why-80-percent-of-new-years-resolutions-fail\">80 percent of people give up on their resolutions<\/a>, which can bring on feelings of disappointment and failure. But <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandiegooasis.org\/\">San Diego Oasis<\/a>, an award-winning nonprofit, provides older adults opportunities to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives through education and wellness classes year-round.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting a new fitness goal can be scary,\u201d says Simona Valanciute, president and CEO, San Diego Oasis. \u201cBut our instructors help our members through every step of their wellness journey. Whether they are looking to pick up a new dance skill, build better balance or just have fun working out, our instructors make each class experience exciting, easy and enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b>Fitness Palooza encourages older adults to try new, fun workouts<\/b><\/p>\n<p>A one day only event, \u201cFitness Palooza\u201d will be in-person from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, at San Diego Oasis\u2019 Wellness Center (located near the Restoration Hardware Outlet)\u00a0 in Grossmont Center. This free event is open to the public, and no registration is required.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in 20-minute sessions highlighting some of San Diego Oasis\u2019 dance and fitness classes, including Soul Line Dancing, Cardio Drumming, T\u2019ai Chi Chih, and more. For those that have poor to average balance, a session on balance training will also be available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFitness Palooza\u201d gives all attendees a sneak peek at the classes offered during San Diego Oasis\u2019 winter and spring semesters.
