The new art gallery\/studio at 4684 Cass St. in Pacific Beach is all about love.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m taking the leap and opening my own art gallery\/studio\/retail\/storefront here next to La Clochette Du Coin on Saturday, Dec. 10,\u201d said Autumn Love of her new retail space. \u201cI\u2019m pretty sure it is the only solo artist gallery in PB. I\u2019m super excited to spread some love in a new beautiful storefront. I\u2019ll be hosting art workshops, selling art, and it will be my studio where I actively create.\u201d<\/p>\n

On her website, artbyautumn.com, Love proclaims: \u201cI am a love advocate and artist. All that I do, create and embody is love. My intention and purpose with my paintings is to heal the world through the most powerful message and energy in existence \u2013 love. My love energy gets transferred and translated into colorful art of all sizes and shapes, from small baby canvases and inspirational chalk messages on the sidewalks to large-scale paintings and murals.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of Michigan and the youngest of nine children, Love has always been inspired by and drawn strength from, her family. \u201cAll my family members closest to me were all artists,\u201d she said adding she has an art degree from the University of Michigan and started out painting canvas clutches, bags, and greeting cards. \u201cI actually drove from Michigan to California selling hand-painted wallets and greeting cards in cities from Michigan to San Diego, that\u2019s how I paid for gas,\u201d she said. That got me out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Love ultimately graduated from painting \u201cfabrics\u201d to \u201cdoing chalk art just to spread the message of love. I feel very much on a mission to spread love, so arts is just one of the ways I do that. Love is the answer. It is the eternal truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The young artist worked out of mini art studios in smaller, private office spaces when she moved to PB nine years ago. \u201cNow, I\u2019m ready to expand,\u201d she said holding one of her handmade and hand-painted love mugs. \u201cI have a number of shops that carry them,\u201d she said adding, \u201cI\u2019m ready to be in the public eye.<\/p>\n

\u201cArt keeps me young because I\u2019m playing and energetically I\u2019m being useful, which is what I like to encourage,\u201d enthused Love pointing out, \u201cThis kind of abstract art is so free form, there is nothing it is supposed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

When she holds workshops, Love said her clients ask her if they should do this or that, to which she replies: \u201cThere are no shoulds. The essence of art is open freedom. So I like to cultivate a space where people can express themselves freely, and be authentic. There are no rules. Part of the message of my art is to allow you to feel that way. I want you to feel welcomed and loved and supported.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about her artistic \u201cprocess,\u201d Love replied: \u201cA lot of times I have no idea what it\u2019s going to look like before I start. I\u2019m usually initially inspired by a color. But most of my inspiration for my art originated from my huge extended family, a family that just loves each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Love is on a mission to \u201cpass this love and support on to people.\u201d<\/p>\n

OPENING RECEPTION<\/p>\n

The opening night reception at Art by Autumn gallery at 4684 Cass St. on Dec. 10 will be open to everyone from 5-9 p.m. Autumn Love noted a musician friend of hers will be playing acoustic music. She added there will also be snacks, beverages, and of course, love, for all her guests.<\/p>\n
