{"id":317243,"date":"2022-11-28T12:03:32","date_gmt":"2022-11-28T20:03:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/?p=317243"},"modified":"2022-11-28T09:50:50","modified_gmt":"2022-11-28T17:50:50","slug":"city-ballets-award-winning-nutcracker-to-perform-at-california-center-for-the-arts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/city-ballets-award-winning-nutcracker-to-perform-at-california-center-for-the-arts\/","title":{"rendered":"City Ballet\u2019s award-winning \u2018Nutcracker\u2019 to perform at California Center for the Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pacific Beach-based City Ballet of San Diego\u2019s award-winning production of the classic holiday ballet \u201cThe Nutcracker\u201d returns to the stage at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, 340 N Escondido Blvd., with five performances Dec. 21-23.<\/p>\n<p>Voted \u201cSan Diego\u2019s Best Nutcracker\u201d (San Diego Dance Alliance Tommy Award) and described by the San Diego Union-Tribune as \u201ca plum of a Nutcracker,\u201d City Ballet\u2019s 28th annual \u201cNutcracker\u201d performs at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido for five performances, accompanied by the City Ballet Orchestra conducted by John Nettles.<\/p>\n<p>To embrace holiday traditions, patrons are encouraged to arrive early for the evening shows or stay later after the matinees to enjoy the \u201cWinter Wonderland Festival\u201d display of lights on the Center\u2019s campus and delight in holiday songs by the City Ballet Chorus in the theater lobby.<\/p>\n<p>Directors Steven and Elizabeth Wistrich, formerly of the Boston Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet, have created a lavish production with their company of professional dancers. Fashioned after the choreography of the great Russian master, Lev Ivanov, who created the very first \u201cNutcracker\u201d more than 100 years ago, the production is dazzling, with virtuoso dancing complemented by opulent sets and costumes.
