{"id":317153,"date":"2022-11-25T09:12:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-25T17:12:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/?p=317153"},"modified":"2022-11-23T12:16:14","modified_gmt":"2022-11-23T20:16:14","slug":"missoula-childrens-theater-returns-to-pacific-beach-with-johnny-appleseed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/missoula-childrens-theater-returns-to-pacific-beach-with-johnny-appleseed\/","title":{"rendered":"Missoula Children\u2019s Theater returns to Pacific Beach with \u2018Johnny Appleseed\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\">After a two-year hiatus, Missoula Children\u2019s Theater returns to Pacific Beach Elementary School with a new production of \u201cJohnny Appleseed.\u201d Missoula Children\u2019s Theater (MCT), based out of Missoula, Mont., arrives at PBE<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">S<\/span><\/span><\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">sobre <\/span><\/span><\/span>Monday, Nov. 28 for a week of auditions and casting, rehearsals, and final community productions of \u201cJohnny Appleseed\u201d on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">MCT arrives at each school with two professional directors, costumes, and sets to start the <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">six-<\/span><\/span><\/span>day, intense theater experience. Day <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">una<\/span><\/span><\/span> is auditions and casting. Days 2-5 are rehearsing lines, song numbers, and choreography. Day <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">six<\/span><\/span><\/span> is the community performance with full makeup and costuming. Each production also selects students as assistant directors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">MCT is no stranger to Pacific Beach <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span><\/span><\/span>chools. In January 2023, PB Middle School will host MCT\u2019s \u201cKing Arthur\u2019s Quest\u201d and in April 2023, Crown Point Junior Music Academy will <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">perform<\/span><\/span><\/span> MCT\u2019s \u201cRumpelstilskin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span lang=\"en-US\">MCT traces its serendipitous roots back to the summer of 1970 when Jim Caron, an unemployed actor, was searching for a mission in life, on his way from Chicago to a friend<\/span>&#039;<span lang=\"en-US\">s wedding in Oregon his aging Volkswagen van broke down. The nearest service station was <\/span>\u2013 <span lang=\"en-US\">fortunately and fatefully <\/span>\u2013 <span lang=\"en-US\">in Missoula. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span lang=\"en-US\">While waiting for the van to be <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">repaired<\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, Caron noticed an audition poster for \u201cMan of La Mancha.\u201d Just for fun, he auditioned and was cast in the role of <\/span><span lang=\"ar-SA\">\u201c<\/span><span lang=\"it-IT\">Sancho.<\/span>\u201d <span lang=\"en-US\">He developed an instant and lasting friendship with Don Collins (the actor playing <\/span><span lang=\"de-DE\">Don Quijote<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">), and together they organized a company of adults to perform plays for children on a make-shift stage in a local movie theatre. The plays, as well as the idea of developing live theatre for kids, were well-received in Missoula.
