On Sunday, Oct. 30, at 0633 hours, the La Mesa Police Department received reports of a vehicle collision in the 8500 block of Dallas Street involving a driver that had struck a parked car and careened into a telephone pole. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The driver, a 20-year-old male from La Mesa, is believed to have been driving alone. The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries. The roadway was closed in both directions until about 1000 hours while investigators processed the scene, but it has since reopened. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. However, preliminary information indicates that driver impairment and speed may have been factors in the collision. The La Mesa Police Traffic Unit will continue its investigation into this collision. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
