{"id":315952,"date":"2022-10-12T10:47:39","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T17:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/?p=315952"},"modified":"2022-10-11T11:05:22","modified_gmt":"2022-10-11T18:05:22","slug":"steak-n-fries-celebrates-five-years-of-serving-cheesesteaks-in-pacific-beach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/steak-n-fries-celebrates-five-years-of-serving-cheesesteaks-in-pacific-beach\/","title":{"rendered":"Steak N Fries celebrates five years of serving cheesesteaks in Pacific Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is a family affair with the Pagans who moved from Philadelphia to Pacific Beach bringing authentic Philly cheesesteaks along with them.<\/p>\n<p>The family is celebrating their fifth anniversary at Steak N Fries, their second home at 1039 Garnet Ave., in October.<\/p>\n<p>Angel and Angela Pagan along with their daughter, Zullette, and their in-laws, feel comfortable now in PB near the beach.<\/p>\n<p>What brought them here?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amazing weather,\u201d answered Angela adding her family relocated in 2016 to establish Steak N Fries a year later.<\/p>\n<p>Comparing the vibe in PB to the East Coast, daughter Zullette noted, \u201cIt\u2019s not aggressive but it\u2019s more like, \u2018Let\u2019s cut to the chase (there). It\u2019s more slow-paced in San Diego, calm, easy going, laid back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Angel and Angela are co-owners of Steak N Fries and Zullette noted she is, \u201cEverything else. I take care of things behind the scenes doing cashiering and expediting. Everything truly is family owned and operated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zullette said her sister Maria cooks and runs their social media. Her husband, Chris, helps out by taking shifts. Her mother-in-law, Maria, also helps out on Sundays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just been us rockin\u2019 and rollin,\u2019\u201d said Zullette adding there are usually two family members on a shift except for Fridays and Saturdays when there are three. The busiest time is the weekends, Friday and Saturday nights, and all day Sunday, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Being open late on weekends now, Steak N Fries serves nightlife crowds grabbing a bite before returning home. \u201cWe\u2019re used to it,\u201d confided Zullette pointing out, \u201cIt\u2019s kind of surreal just to be here for five years. New people walk in every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For its fifth-anniversary Steak N Fries is doing a cheesesteak giveaway. \u201cEvery year we do a raffle,\u201d noted Zullette. \u201cThis year we\u2019re going to select five lucky winners, and the whole meal is on us. Usually, we do three winners. But this year we decided to do five (one for each year).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Why Steak N Fries has been successful is no secret. \u201cThe customers know they can expect freshness \u2013 you\u2019re going to taste it,\u201d replied Zullette. \u201cThat\u2019s a big deal for us. Nothing is made ahead of time. We slice our meat in-house. Things take a little time. But everything is truly made to order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Steak N Fries likes to keep things uncomplicated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe menu is simple and it\u2019s a simple process to order,\u201d explained Zullette. \u201cIt makes life easier on the customer as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There have been some additions to their standard menu, like the barbecued chicken cheesesteak and the barbecued chicken fries introduced this year. The top-selling item is the cheesesteak followed closely by the loaded cheesesteak.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia sports memorabilia adorn the walls of the restaurant, as do the first bills, including foreign currency, that the Pagans made at Steak N Fries.
