La Mesa First United Methodist Church<\/span><\/span>'<\/span><\/span>s in-person city council<\/span><\/span> C<\/span><\/span>andidates\u2019 forum returns on Wednesday, Oct. 5. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The forum will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 7 p.m. at 4690 Palm Ave., La Mesa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s forum follows<\/span><\/span> FUMC\u2019s<\/span><\/span> long tradition of hosting this non-partisan activity. The<\/span><\/span> forum will be live-streamed<\/span><\/span> and recorded on the<\/span><\/span> church\u2019s website, Facebook,<\/span><\/span> and YouTube pages. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Todos<\/span><\/span> six candidates have<\/span><\/span> agreed to participate. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

El<\/span><\/span> candidatos<\/span><\/span> are current<\/span><\/span> La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis and former City Councilmember Kristine Alessio<\/span><\/span> vying for the mayoral position, and four candidates are competing for two City Council seats. The candidates for City Council are civil rights advocate Mejgan Afshan, businesswoman Patricia Dillard, La Mesa Councilmember Laura Lothian, and Pastor Tony Orlando. Pastor Christian DeMent will moderate the forum. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Community members will ask candidates about homelessness, housing and business development, environment, and cultural diversity. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
