{"id":314071,"date":"2022-08-09T07:35:02","date_gmt":"2022-08-09T14:35:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/?p=314071"},"modified":"2022-08-09T07:35:02","modified_gmt":"2022-08-09T14:35:02","slug":"mission-trails-field-station-receives-top-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/mission-trails-field-station-receives-top-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission Trails Field Station receives top award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Earlier this summer, the Mission Trails Field Station received the highest award (President) given by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLASD) for its 2022 Design Awards.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The awards recognize professional excellence for outstanding works of landscape architecture and environmental planning that promote an enhanced the quality of life in San Diego County and beyond.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">I was thrilled to learn that the MTRP Field Station\u2019s landscape design has garnered this deserved attention,\u201d stated San Diego Councilmember Raul Campillo. \u201cThe design work keeps with the spirit of Mission Trails by honoring the natural beauty that makes this park the jewel of our City. I encourage all local residents\u2014including my constituents in District 7\u2014to experience the landscape and be inspired to create drought-tolerant, native plant gardens of their own.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Judged by a country-wide jury of peers, the awards are President&#8217;s, Honor and Merit and include the categories of construction detailing, commercial, historic restoration and San Diego landmarks, environmental solutions, institutional, pro-bono, unbuilt works, residential large single-family, residential multi-family, parks, trails and recreation, planning and analysis, public and municipal.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201c<span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The City is honored to have such a beautiful facility added to the Mission Trails Regional Park landscape,\u201d said Erika Ferreira, deputy director of the Open Space Division for the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department. \u201cOur partners at Spurlock Landscape Architects\u2019 thoughtfully considered design incorporated a variety of drought-tolerant plants that grow naturally at the park and fit seamlessly with the design of the ranger station. We look forward to watching the plantings and trees grow in over the coming years.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The American Society of Landscape Architects is a national professional organization, founded in 1899, representing landscape architects in private, public, and academic practice. Its mission is to lead, educate and participate in the careful stewardship, wise planning, and artful design of our cultural and natural environments.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\" align=\"left\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The San Diego chapter was formed in 1976 to serve both the professional and the public on local issues dealing with the practice of landscape architecture.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><span style=\"color: #201f1e;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"color: #201f1e;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">We at the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation are proud to have helped to fund this new facility which drew upon the expertise of local firms Davy Architecture and Spurlock Landscape Architects.
