{"id":313196,"date":"2022-07-08T08:03:42","date_gmt":"2022-07-08T15:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/?p=313196"},"modified":"2022-07-06T09:25:07","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T16:25:07","slug":"la-jolla-village-merchants-association-partners-with-the-lion-king","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/la-jolla-village-merchants-association-partners-with-the-lion-king\/","title":{"rendered":"La Jolla Village Merchants Association partners with \u2018The Lion King\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>La Jolla Village Merchants Association is partnering with Disney\u2019s musical production of \u201cThe Lion King\u201d to promote five \u201cHakuna Matata-themed\u201d events in July and August.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hakuna Matata&#8221; is a Swahili phrase meaning &#8220;no trouble,\u201d &#8220;no worries&#8221; and &#8220;take it easy.&#8221; The phrase is derived from the 1994 Walt Disney Animation Studios animated film \u201cThe Lion King.\u201d The movie popularized the phrase in one of its songs, which is translated as &#8220;no worries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>La Jolla Village will host a variety of events to shine the light on environmental stewardship, family, and of course \u2014 the no-worry attitude, said LJVMA on its website lajollabythesea.com. The promotion collaborates with Broadway San Diego, which is presenting the return of the Tony Award-winning musical on the Civic Theater stage downtown from Aug. 24 to Sept. 11.<\/p>\n<p>Jodi Rudick, LJVMA\u2019s executive director talked about how the promotional collaboration came about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to the pandemic in March of 2020 Disney\u2019s Broadway musical, \u201cFrozen,\u201d was heading to San Diego and had similarly partnered with La Jolla Village,\u201d said Rudick adding, \u201cThe show, unfortunately, did not go on, but LJVMA forged a positive relationship with Disney Theatrical that endured beyond COVID. When \u2018The Lion King\u2019 became part of the Broadway San Diego 2022 season, Disney\u2019s promotional team again selected La Jolla to be part of its launch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rudick noted that \u201cLion King\u201d-themed events, sponsored by the show, will \u201cbring a fun, unique vibrancy to La Jolla. We are always looking for mutually beneficial partnerships that promote the values of La Jolla and the needs of our merchants. The themes of \u2018Lion King\u2019 align perfectly with La Jolla\u2019s commitment to the environment, conservancy, and preservation.
