Bishop’s, La Jolla stickers keep winning
While The Bishop’s School has been a perennial field hockey stalwart over the years, La Jolla High continues to show its dramatic improvement since last year.
Bishop’s came into this week at 10-8-1, being led to date by Erin Ryan, Riley Sexton, Lia Sagerman and goalie Sarah Shults.
“The season continues to go well as we are finishing our games and preparing for CIF,” Bishop’s head coach Kristin Davidson said. “Our defense continues to stay strong with a midfield that is transitioning the ball around nicely. We are also impressed by the level of play that our four sophomores are playing at ” truly showing maturity, great stick skills and confidence.”
La Jolla High, meantime, won again last Friday, scoring a 2-0 win over Madison. The Lady Vikings got goals from Maddy Sharpe and Sandra Harpster in the victory.

Can’t keep Bobby down
Bobby DuCharme, an Ocean Beach surfer who was paralyzed seven years ago in a tragic surfing accident in Coronado, will premiere his newest surf film, “Can’t Keep Me Down,” on Saturday, Nov. 11, 7 p.m., at Point Loma Nazarene University’s Brown Theater. Admission to the premiere is free.
DuCharme, a quadriplegic, started Paralyzed Productions in 2003 and has made five surf films that have sold in surf shops across San Diego. “Can’t Keep Me Down,” his sixth film, is the story of his accident (re-enacted), his recovery and his remarkable new life.
