Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton conducted a breakfast fundraiser at the La Jolla home of Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs and his wife Joan.
\nTicket prices for what the campaign is billing as a “Conversation with Hillary” were $1,000 and $2,700, the maximum individual contribution for a candidate seeking his or her party\u2019s nomination under federal law.
\nThe event is the next-to-last stop on a four-day, five-state fundraising trip that began Tuesday with events in Aspen and Denver, Colo., according to the website PoliticalPartyTime.org, which tracks political fundraisers.
\nClinton conducted fundraisers in San Francisco and Los Angeles on Thursday in her quest to become the nation\u2019s first female president.
\nAfter the event in La Jolla, Clinton is scheduled to fly to McAllen, Texas.
\nIrwin Jacobs was a major financial backer of President Obama\u2019s presidential campaigns. Jacobs contributed more than $2 million to super PACs that supported Obama in 2012 and $23,000 directly to Obama and the Democratic Party, according to the political news website Politico.
\nThis will be the 67-year-old Clinton\u2019s first visit to San Diego since she declared her candidacy. She was last in the city in June of 2014, when she signed copies of her book “Hard Choices,” and later spoke at a biotech conference.
\nIn Los Angeles on Thursday, Clinton met with a group of home care providers, praising the work they do and the contributions they make to the nation\u2019s health care system and conducted a campaign fundraiser.
\nClinton took part in a roundtable discussion on home care at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, organized by the Service Employees International Union, which includes members in the health care industry and is working to unionize more of them.
