What stays after their parents pick them up at about 5 p.m.\u00a0are bits of paper, plastic salsa cups, pizza boxes, food containers, various candy wrappers and more.\u00a0 There are two trash cans to be used, but they are not used.\u00a0 What gives these students the right to come to their library and absolutely trash it before leaving? Why don\u2019t the parents make sure the library is left as it was found?\u00a0Why has our library become a baby-sitting place for working parents?\u00a0 Why do these children believe it is their right to make our library look like a slum after they leave? What happens at our lovely library after-hours also stays there.\u00a0I guess it is a meeting place for the transients and homeless in the area.\u00a0 In the morning, you can see broken bottles, brown paper bags with king-size beer cans inside and cigarette butts ground into the sidewalk, ground into the trees, into the ground, onto the benches \u2014 all left for someone else to pick up.\u00a0 Maybe the people of our community would have a little more sympathy for the transient group if they [transients] didn\u2019t leave mounds of trash in their wake, never bothering to help the community in which he\/she has selected to reside in.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What takes place at around 2 p.m. every weekday afternoon is swarms of high school kids using the lawn at the Hervey\/Point Loma Branch Library for wrestling, yelling, jumping, running, kissing, lying about, eating, drinking and not studying.
