Senior Rachel Rhoades is one of Mission Bay\u2019s touted weapons. And even if luck wasn\u2019t on their side for this year\u2019s playoffs, the Lady Bucs have had a year to build on. Finishing with a 12-11 record, the Bucs tasted success this season and want more. “We\u2019ve steadily improved every year,” Beza said. “I\u2019ve been here for three years, and every year I think we are doing a little bit better. Last year, we made some milestones \u2014 we beat Coronado for the first time away \u2014 I think our record has been improving and I think our team is getting a lot younger now too.” Beza will bask in a larger selection of players in the next few seasons. “Our JV has been tops,” Beza said. “I think last year they were like 15-5, so those are all freshman and sophomores. And we have all the returners from varsity, so we will have some tough decisions to make.” Partly to thank for the deep talent pool is the number of girls at MBHS who play competitive club volleyball like Rhoades, but you won\u2019t hear Beza complaining.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
