The Pacific Beach Recreation Center, 1405 Diamond St., is holding sign-ups for its youth flag football league through Friday, Sept. 22.
“We’re trying to get [the program] built back up,” said Richard Criter, Pacific Beach Recreation Center Director. “There used to be a lot more kids participating. We want to see if we can get a lot of kids out this season.”
All youngsters ages 8 to 12 years old are invited to participate in this league. There are three age divisions: 8 to 12 years (cutoff date is Dec. 10, 2006); U-10 (8-10 years); and U-12 (11 to 12 years).
Registration is $45 for all age divisions. A birth certificate must be provided at time of registration.
“It’s going to be a good league,” Criter said. “We’re teamed with Cadman Recreation Center, which is where we’ll have our games. We’ll have plenty of teams in the league, there’s no question. I just want to get as many kids as possible on my team! I think it’ll be a good season.”
To be guaranteed a place on the team, participants must attend a draft on Saturday, Sept. 23. Ages 8 to 10 will start at 9 a.m., followed by ages 11 to 12 at 11 a.m.
