Point Loma resident Holly Baughman was selected as one of 26 United Way employees in the country to participate in United Way’s 2006 Resident Fellows Program.
As a fellow, Baughman will have the opportunity to enhance her leadership skills within the organization and community.
The yearlong, rigorous training program provides comprehensive curriculum and a series of learning and development experiences for early career professionals currently working within the system, allowing participants to move forward in their careers.
“It also gives them background on the structure of United Way and to a lot of their business models,” said Stephanie Mello on behalf of United Way of San Diego County.
The program requires participants to work alongside local United Ways in order to aid the communities in which they live.
Participants also attend week-long sessions and are partnered with mentors so that they can have a better grasp of United Way.
“They, in turn, become a member of a professional network,” Mello added.
Baughman, a former resident of Richmond, Va., started her nonprofit career 14 years ago as a service provider to emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children. She moved to San Diego just two years ago.
