The San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering an award of up to $1,000 to anyone with information that leads to the arrest of a suspect wanted for one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
During the early hours of April 30, police responded to a call in the 100 block of South Twenty-eighth Street and found three gunshot victims inside a black Dodge Ram pick up truck. They were rushed to nearby hospitals. One of the victims, 18-year-old Gladys Noriega, died from her injuries.
Homicide detectives believe the victims had been socializing in the Mission Beach and Sunset Cliffs areas prior to the incident. Shortly after 1 a.m., the victims were about to enter the Coronado Bridge from Interstate 5; shots were then fired striking Noriega and her two companions. The driver, although wounded, drove the vehicle to a nearby gas station where he asked customers to call the police.
The surviving victims were able to provide detectives minimal information regarding the shooting. The victim’s truck had a large white insignia on the rear window that read “NOTORIOUS SD Car Club” and detectives speculate that this may have prompted a negative response on someone resulting in the shooting.
