ART AND SOUND \u2014 Artist Ellen Salk (daughter-in-law of the late Jonas Salk), composer Christopher Adler and art critic Sally Yard will hold a panel discussion about multidisciplinary approaches to art making and the intersection of sound and image at the Oceanside Museum of Art on Saturday, April 13 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The talk is free with museum admission and complimentary for OMA members. The program is in conjunction with the exhibition, “Synesthesia: Manifestations of Energy \u2014 Paintings by Ellen Salk and Sound by Christopher Adler,” on view through May 5. In collaboration with Adler, an experimental sound-artist, Salk has designed an immersive installation that explores the vibrational quality of her images. Designed in response to Salk\u2019s work, Adler\u2019s music heightens the viewer\u2019s senses eliciting a meditative and spiritual experience. Salk\u2019s large-scale paintings reference her interest in consciousness, elemental forms, entropy, minimalism and abstract expressionism. The paintings explore contrasts of light and dark, organic and geometric, thin-versus-thick lines, and warm against cool colors. Oceanside Museum of Art is located 704 Pier View Way in downtown Oceanside. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. General admission is $8, $5 for seniors and free for students and military.
