Three start-ups win UCSD competition
The inaugural University of California, San Diego $50K Entrepreneurship Competition ended Saturday, June 9 with a $30,000 cash award to San Diego-based start-up Omega Sensors Inc.
The competition was started by UCSD graduate student Nicole Truitt and UCSD undergraduate Neha Patadia.
The final round of live judging capped more than 15 months of planning and nine months of competition that started last September with a $1,000 Ideal Summary competition and an Executive Summary competition in the winter.
Five finalists were given 20 minutes to present their business plans and field questions from nine members of the San Diego tech community.
In addition to Omega Sensors, $10,000 was awarded to Alis Tech, started by students at UCSD’s Rady School of Management, and $15,000 went to ImageAware, another UCSD company.<\/p>\n
