VOLLEYBALLER NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR
\nA member of the PLHS Eastern League champion boys\u2019 volleyball team was named the league\u2019s player of the year.\u00a0
\nTravis Doyle, a senior, was selected by league coaches as the top player in the seven-team circuit which also includes Morse, Patrick Henry, Serra, San Diego, Kearny and Mission Bay High Schools.
\nNamed to the first team all-league squad were Doyle and teammates John Hook and Jason Shoemaker, both juniors.
\nThe Pointers have finished as Eastern League champions three of the past four years under head coach James Sakasegawa.

\nThe PLHS boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 swim teams named their top swimmers from the recently concluded season.
\nSenior Jason O\u2019Brien was named swimmer of the year for the Pointer boys\u2019 undefeated league champions (7-0 league, 12-0 overall).
\nAlso recognized were Anthony Farris (50m freestyle); Noah Stevenson, Chase Schaffer, O\u2019Brien and Farris (200-meter freestyle relay).
\nTop girls swimmers included Audrey Hauck, Elia Bouris, Hejira Whittaker, Erica Myrmel and Lauren Olcott (200-meter medley relay); Bouris (200-meter individual medley) and Whittaker (100-meter butterfly).
\nThe Pointers girls finished 3-3 in league and 4-7 overall.
\nTeam coaches are Jerry Rich, Joshua Fulks and Ken Toma.
