Harvey Henry Duson, 45, pleaded not guilty before San Diego Superior Court Judge Tim Walsh. Duson is accused of setting Mathis\u2019 home on fire to cover up the residential burglary. Mathis, now 79 and the chairman of the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Board, testified he was attacked in his garage on Jan. 11 after he had just driven home from hearing Mayor Jerry Sanders\u2019 State of the City address. Duson is also accused of robbery, kidnapping for robbery and three counts of false imprisonment, which involved holding Harry and Mary Mathis and a neighbor against their will. He is also charged with two robbery counts of a Sprint store on Rosecrans Street last November. A second man who allegedly accompanied Duson in the crime has not been arrested.
