Authorities have publicly identified a 62-year-old surfer who died after he was pulled from the water during the 21st annual Luau and Legends of Surfing Invitational at La Jolla Shores on Sunday, Aug. 21.
\nFrancis Noe Todd was seen laying on his surfboard in the water, then floating face down as the beachside fundraiser for the Moores Cancer Center at UCSD was under way near Scripps Pier late Sunday morning, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
\nTodd was pulled from the water and taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead shortly before noon, authorities said.
