Muirlands principal Chris Hargraves urged people to wear blue ribbons in Goldman\u2019s honor.<br \/>\nThe Muirlands school observance will be followed by a tree dedication ceremony.<br \/>\nIf you have pictures or quotes that you\u2019d like to be included in a slide show, send them to rgray@sandi.net.\u00a0<br \/>\nAt the Windansea remembrance, there will be 50 floating paper &#8220;wishing&#8221; lanterns for sale ($3 each) for students and others to light and send up over the ocean after sunset at 6:36 p.m.<br \/>\nIn addition, the Muirlands Foundation is collecting donations for a memorial bench to be placed alongside the tree.\u00a0Drop off donations at the office or send via mail to\u00a0Muirlands Foundation,?1056 Nautilus Street,?La Jolla, 92037. <i>\u2014David Schwab<\/i> <b>Pedestrian injured in traffic accident<\/b><br \/>\nA 60-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when he walked into the path of a vehicle in La Jolla early Monday morning on Sept. 23.<br \/>\nThe incident occurred at 1:24 a.m., San Diego police Sgt. D. Jennings said.<br \/>\n&#8220;A man walked into the path of a 2008 Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old man on 3200 Holiday Court,&#8221; Jennings said. &#8220;The pedestrian suffered a broken leg and brain bleed.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe incident was being investigated by the Traffic Division. <i>\u2014David Schwab<\/i> <b>Robber of 7-Eleven stores gets 25 years<\/b><br \/>\nA 25-year prison sentence was handed down Sept. 10 for Alex Sanchez, 24, who pleaded guilty to robbing two 7-Eleven stores on Midway Drive, another in Torrey Pines, as well as 12 other stores.<br \/>\nSan Diego Superior Court Judge Eugenia Eyherabide imposed 20 years for Sanchez discharging a firearm in the series\u2019 second robbery of a 7-Eleven store at 4091 Genesee Ave. on Aug. 4, 2012. Deputy District Attorney Martin Doyle said Sanchez shot into a wall, but no one was injured.<br \/>\nEyherabide imposed consecutive and concurrent terms for the other holdups to equal 25 years. She ordered him to pay restitution averaging about $150 each for seven stores.<br \/>\nDoyle asked for the 25-year sentence while Sanchez\u2019s attorney sought a 22-year sentence. When he pleaded guilty May 10 to all charges, Sanchez was told his sentence would range from 22-28 years. He was given credit for serving 390 days in jail already.<br \/>\nA second man, Luis Alonso Cruz, 25, also pleaded guilty to all counts and will be sentenced Nov. 22 by Eyherabide. He faces a prison term ranging from 30 to 70 years, said Doyle. Cruz has a prior record of burglary in 2010. The Peninsula-area 7-Eleven stores were located at 2387 and 3185 Midway Drive.
