It also knows how to come together for a worthy cause. The Pacific Beach Town Council (PBTC) is putting both skills to good use with its seventh annual wine tasting and fundraiser, Sunday, June 29, 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Lotsa Pasta, 1762 Garnet Ave.<br \/>&#8220;Come out and sample some extraordinary local wines, enjoy live entertainment and dine on delicious hors d&#8217;oeuvres,&#8221; event chairperson and PBTC director Patrick Finucane said. &#8220;And the best part is that it all supports local youth.&#8221;<br \/>Attendees can enjoy wines from Keyways, Eagles Nest and Napa Ridge wineries as well as heavy hors d&#8217;oeuvres and delectable desserts. The classical guitar of Lynn Hieb will provide the musical backdrop for this evening of easygoing elegance.<br \/>Attendees can further indulge their taste for the finer things with a relaxing day of wellness at Buechel Chiropractic Center, a rejuvenating stay at Pacific Terrace Hotel or a gourmet cooking class at Great News! Discount Cookware and Cooking School, just a few of the prizes being offered as part of the event&#8217;s silent auction. <br \/>Or perhaps sitting down for a meal with of Police Chief William Lansdowne, Assistant Police Chief Boyd Long or Councilman Kevin Faulconer is more your style.<br \/>Three lucky bidders in the silent auction will score lunch with the local leaders. Long&#8217;s lunch companion will be picked up in a patrol car and escorted to World Famous.<br \/>Other items include Sunday brunch for four at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and one-night stays at the Pacific Terrace Inn and Crystal Pier Cottages.<br \/>Those who wish to pass on the bidding could still leave with a prize from the raffle.<br \/>The grand prize for the raffle is a beach cruiser from Pacific Coast Bicycle, 1637 Garnet Ave., complete with free lifetime tune-ups.<br \/>Other raffle items include gift certificates to Nick&#8217;s at the Beach, Cass Street Bar &#038; Grill and Cafe Athena, along with passes for the Bahia Bell sternwheeler and a gift basket at Trader Joe&#8217;s.<br \/>&#8220;With great wine, live music, wonderful food, silent auction and raffle, it is sure to be a fun experience for all,&#8221; Finucane said. &#8220;And with all that is going on these days, this is a great chance to give a little back to the neighborhood.&#8221;<br \/>Proceeds will benefit youth programs at Pacific Beach Recreation Center and local schools. <br \/>&#8220;They really make a difference,&#8221; PBTC President Ruby Houck said.<br \/>Last year&#8217;s proceeds supported Mission Bay Little League, soccer and girls softball.
