Luminarias originated in New Mexico and were traditionally displayed on Christmas Eve to guide the spirit of baby Christ to one’s home and heart.
On Plumosa Drive in Loma Portal, this tradition has been going on for years and is known as the Plumosa Park Festival of Lights.
The times have also changed. While neighborhood children lined the streets with luminarias for free in the tradition’s early years, they now charge $5 for their services.
Despite being located in a residential area, the attraction does draw a crowd.
The Plumosa Park Festival of Lights runs from 6 until 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve and is now organized by the neighborhood watch.

‘Unpredictable’ Foxx booked at Civic
Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx will perform a night of comedy and music Tuesday, Dec. 26, 8 p.m., when his “Unpredictable” tour hits the San Diego Civic Theatre.
For tickets and information, visit, www.ticketmaster.com.

Dance groups introduce new Promenade HQMalashock, San Diego Ballet and Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theatre ” residents of the NTC Promenade’s Dance Place San Diego ” will host a free day of dance Tuesday, Dec. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The companies are celebrating their recent move to NTC’s cultural district and […]

[11549,11600

post-296506","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-arts-entertainment","category-sdnews
["GET
