Friday Night Liberty is a monthly first Friday evening of free open artist studios, galleries and events throughout NTC at Liberty Station’s Arts and Cultural District. Guest have the freedom to explore, wander and enjoy the growing cultural campus.
\n– San Diego Dance Theater will present a preview of Live Arts Fest 2015: “Modern Master and Movements,” a chronological series of 10 nights that follow the development of modern dance in America. Performances at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. in Building 175, Studio 106. – Malashock Dance will present excepts from “Snakeskin,” an original dance drama, inspired by the plays and characters of Tennessee Williams. Created by composer Krishan Oberoi (director of “Sacra\/Profana”) and artistic director John Malashock. Performances are 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., Building 175, Studio 200.
\n– California Ballet School’s Advanced Tap class will be showcased in an open rehearsal for their upcoming concert. Take a peek at some of the student performers in Building 176, Studio 103.
\n– The Swift Gallery’s March opening will be “On the Street Where You Live: Paintings from Bay Park.” New original works on canvas by award-winning painter Ellen Dieter. – San Diego Watercolor Society “Art Takes Root” will open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through April 25. The first Friday event is from 5 to 8 p.m. April 3 at Liberty Station. The juror that month is Rise Parberry.
\n– Visions Art Museum: Contemporary Quilts + Textiles has three different exhibits:
\n\u2022Expressions in Equality, Celebrating our diverse world;
\n\u2022Inspired by the Siddis: Quilts by Margaret Fabrizio; and \u2022Faces Visions Members\u2019 Challenge. Barracks 19
\n– M Fischbeck Studio Gallery – Original oil paintings by Peggy Fischbeck. Florals by Pam Robinson. Community Art: “On the Mission Trail.”
\n– Bravo School of Art presents “Our Lives are Woven Through it.” A premier exhibition of student\u2019s weaving explorations. Telling stories, expressing emotion or just for play, these simple tactile pieces reflect varied lives. – Lovejoy Creations presents “Paint your Pet.” A class for all ages, even if you have never painted before, you will impress yourself with your final artwork. You are provided with an 11-inch by 14-inch canvas, with your pet “predrawn,” and supplies and step-by-step instruction from Lovejoy. Barracks 17 and plaza
\n– The Patricia Rincon Dance Collective will be showing excerpts from up-and-coming choreographer and associate director Natalia Valerdi\u2019s “Mara\u2019s Daughters” plus choreography by associate director Patricia Rincon\u2019s “Myth Project: Altar” from the La Jolla Playhouse Without Walls Festival.
