{"id":295994,"date":"2015-03-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-03-20T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/art-music-and-dance-camps-open-house-at-liberty-station\/"},"modified":"2015-03-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-03-20T07:00:00","slug":"art-music-and-dance-camps-open-house-at-liberty-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/art-music-and-dance-camps-open-house-at-liberty-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Art, music and dance camps open house at Liberty Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the NTC Arts &#038; Culture District in Liberty Station, the former Naval Training Center, sailors once trained for military service.<br \/>\nNow a new generation of &#8220;recruits&#8221; gets their training in art, music and dance.<br \/>\nA free NTC Summer Camp Open House is set for Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. so that parents can learn about the camps, visit the art studios, meet instructors and explore the NTC campus.<br \/>\nSummer Camp participants will also display information about their offerings during the Open House at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center, 2640 Historic Decatur Road.<br \/>\nClasses and workshops are being presented throughout the year by dozens of cultural groups.<br \/>\nBut this summer, something special is taking shape: 10 NTC resident arts and culture groups are collaborating to present joint promotion Summer Camps at NTC: Where KIDS Get Creative.<br \/>\nPresented by the nonprofit NTC Foundation, Summer Camps at NTC are ideal for families looking for creative experiences for their children, ages 4-17.<br \/>\nCamps feature music, dance, theatre, creative writing, hands-on art making, photography and more \u2014 all in the historic heart of Liberty Station. &#8220;This summer, kids can explore and discover new skills in San Diego\u2019s growing Arts and Culture District,&#8221; said NTC Foundation Executive Director Alan Ziter.<br \/>\n&#8220;We encourage parents to let their kids get creative with local artists this summer.&#8221;<br \/>\nParticipating organizations include: Banyan Tree Learning Center, Bravo School of Art, California Ballet School, Mathnasium Point Loma, Monart School of Art, Outside the Lens, Recreational Music Center, San Diego Ballet, San Diego Watercolor Society and Theatre Arts School of San Diego.<br \/>\nNTC at Liberty Station is San Diego\u2019s largest Arts &#038; Cultural District located in historic buildings at the former Naval Training Center in the new Liberty Station neighborhood. With 28 park-like acres and 16 of its 26 buildings complete, NTC is home to nearly 80 museums and galleries, artist studios, dance companies, educational groups, multidisciplinary arts, creative retail and other organizations that showcase San Diego\u2019s creative community and provide innovative experiences for the public.
