{"id":295716,"date":"2014-10-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/man-to-be-sentenced-in-burglary-robbery-spree\/"},"modified":"2014-10-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-10-22T07:00:00","slug":"man-to-be-sentenced-in-burglary-robbery-spree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/man-to-be-sentenced-in-burglary-robbery-spree\/","title":{"rendered":"Man to be sentenced in burglary-robbery spree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A jury on Oct. 21 convicted a man of four burglaries and three armed robberies, one of which involved accosting a La Jolla real estate agent with a rifle and firing shots that injured a homeowner.<br \/>\nThe eight-woman, four-man jury found David Allen Grub, 45, guilty of all charges following five hours&#8217; deliberation after hearing closing arguments on Oct. 20.. The San Diego Superior Court trial began Oct. 9.<br \/>\nSentencing was set for Nov. 19 by Judge Melinda Lasater. Deputy District Attorney Dennis Panish said Grub, who remains in jail, faces a prison sentence of more than 30 years.<br \/>\nGrub was convicted of robbing real estate agent Peggy Chodorow confronted Aug. 1, 2012 after showing a La Jolla home for sale on Hillside Drive. He was also convicted of robbing the homeowner, Jay Hawley, who testified he was wounded by pieces of pavement after Grub fired several warning shots into asphalt.<br \/>\nGrub was also convicting of burglarizing a home on Loring Street in Pacific Beach on May 24, 2012. Homeowner Stephen Miller testified he saw Grub carrying out a drawer containing jewelry and leave in a black car.<br \/>\nThe jury also found Grub guilty of burglary at a house in the 7100 block of La Jolla Scenic Drive on April 19, 2012. Panish told jurors Grub got inside by throwing a rock through a window. Grub accidently left his backpack and gloves inside the home, and his DNA was recovered from those items.<br \/>\nGrub was also convicted of burglarizing two homes in Rancho Bernardo in 2012. In those burglaries, Grub cut himself and left blood behind; the prosecutor said the blood contained Grub&#8217;s DNA.<br \/>\nGrub was also found guilty of robbing a housekeeper at a home in Rancho Santa Fe on Dec. 20, 2012. The homeowner, Jay Weinberg, testified more than $200,000 worth of jewelry, Sterling silver and clocks were taken along with his wife&#8217;s purse..<br \/>\nGrub\u2019s attorney, Raymond Aragon, told jurors the eyewitnesses in the case were mistaken. He blamed Grub\u2019s ex-girlfriend with writing a letter to sheriff\u2019s deputies about the crimes because &#8220;he took up with another woman.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe letter identified Grub with his address in Alpine.
