What you may not know is that since 2010, the United Portuguese S.E.S., Inc. (UPSES) has sponsored its own soccer team, according to Sports Committee representative Chris Leal. Prior to 2010, the UPSES pulled together interested players, but “having a consistent team has really made a difference. “Due to the UPSES’ sponsorship, we now represent the Portuguese community in various California tournaments,” said Leal. “The USA versus Portugal game is exciting for all of us; for the USA games as well as Portugal’s,” he said. “We’ll be showing all the games throughout and the UPSES will have its bar open. Starting next week, we’ll be serving Portuguese steak sandwiches, sausage sandwiches and a few special traditional dishes.”
Raglan Public House is located on the corner of Bacon Street and Niagara Avenue at 1851 Bacon St. in Ocean Beach.
