The Citizens\u2019 Review Board\u2019s role is to ensure the investigation and findings are accurate, thorough and objective. The CRB also reviews the administration of discipline in cases where the officer has been found to have disobeyed proper policy and procedure. The CRB makes policy and procedure recommendations to San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman.<br \/>\nThe 23 members of the CRB reflect the diversity in San Diego, including ethnicity, race, geographic, occupation, gender, religion, sexual orientation and expression, socio-economic, people with disabilities and age. Board members should live within city limits. The time commitment for the CRB is extensive \u2014 about 20 hours per month \u2014 and includes case review, report writing, regular monthly meetings and continuing education. Applicants must undergo a background check.<br \/>\nProspective members are selected by Faulconer and undergo training in preparation to serve. Board members are then appointed by Faulconer from the pool of prospective members when vacancies occur. Board members may serve up to eight one-year terms and serve at the pleasure of the mayor.<br \/>\nInformational meetings are scheduled throughout the city to provide information regarding the responsibilities of the board and time commitment and also to answer questions.
