{"id":294786,"date":"2008-02-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-27T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/pcpb-election-parameters-emerging\/"},"modified":"2008-02-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2008-02-27T08:00:00","slug":"pcpb-election-parameters-emerging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/pcpb-election-parameters-emerging\/","title":{"rendered":"PCPB election parameters emerging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eligible candidates who want to run for one of the five open seats on the Peninsula Community Planning Board this year have until Thursday, March 13 to contact a board member to ensure a candidate&#8217;s name appears on the printed ballot, according to PCPB officials. <br \/>Candidates will also have a chance to meet with board members and the community during a candidate forum Thursday, March 13 at a time and place to be yet to be determined. <br \/>However, potential candidates can also be nominated from the floor on the day of the election, Thursday, March 20, or they can run as a write-in candidate, according to Cal Jones, PCPB Election Committee chair. <br \/>A candidate must prove eligibility, however, should they win a seat on the board, he said. <br \/>&#8220;Technically, there&#8217;s no cutoff [date to apply], but if you want your name on the [written] ballot, then you got to give us a heads-up on that,&#8221; Jones said. <br \/>To run, a candidate must be at least 18 years old, own property in the planning area or operate a business in the Peninsula planning area, he said. <br \/>Also, a candidate must have attended at least one regularly scheduled full-board meeting during the last 12 months prior to the Feb. 21 meeting, according to deputy City Attorney Alex Sachs. <br \/>However, any potential candidate who attended the special by-laws meeting convened by the full board on Monday, Feb. 11 would also qualify, Sachs said. <br \/>A candidate is in with a simple majority vote.
