Friday, May 15, the Point Loma United Methodist Church hosts a two-pronged benefit dinner and concert for Fishes and Loaves to raise money to feed the hungry. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a spaghetti dinner will be held at a cost of $5 a person or $15 a family. At 7 p.m. ,a classic rock concert will be held in the church sanctuary with music by the youthful band known as The Blonde Brothers. The entrance fee is a bag of food for the hungry, and a free-will offering will be requested at intermission. Friday, May 29, 6 p.m., Point Loma High School (PLHS) hosts its annual fundraising event, &#8220;Rhapsody on the Point,&#8221; to raise money for the school\u2019s music program. The event will also honor Dell Schroeder, a local music teacher and founder\/director of Band at the Beach. The concert will feature musical selections from PLHS symphonic winds, concert band and orchestra, as well as a silent auction and presentation by guest performer and keynote speaker John Wilds, who plays the trumpet in both the San Diego Symphony and the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. The event takes place at Crill Hall at Point Loma Nazarene University, 3900 Lomaland Drive. Individual tickets are $40 and various levels of sponsorship are available up to $1,000.
