{"id":293398,"date":"2013-06-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-26T07:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/area-fireworks-displays-activities-to-give-you-plenty-of-choices\/"},"modified":"2013-06-26T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-06-26T07:00:00","slug":"area-fireworks-displays-activities-to-give-you-plenty-of-choices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/area-fireworks-displays-activities-to-give-you-plenty-of-choices\/","title":{"rendered":"Area fireworks displays, activities to give you plenty of choices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fourth of July is rapidly approaching and there appears to be no shortage of pyrotechnics and activities to tantalize families this year.<br \/>\nNew to the offerings in 2013 will be a first-ever evening Fourth of July event at Cabrillo National Monument called &#8220;Above the Fireworks.&#8221; Park officials are inviting families and neighbors to come for the sunset and stay for the gorgeous panorama of fireworks around the bay and park grounds from Cabrillo\u2019s majestic perch.<br \/>\nThe ticketed event is being coordinated by the park\u2019s nonprofit partners The Cabrillo National Monument Conservancy and the Cabrillo National Monument Foundation, and takes place between 6:30 and 10:30 p.m. at the monument, located on Point Loma at the south end of Catalina Boulevard.<br \/>\nThe cost is $35 per passenger vehicle.<br \/>\nFor tickets and information, visit the Cabrillo National Monument bookstore, or the following websites: friendsofcabrillo.eventbrite.com\/ or www.cnmf.org<br \/>\nThere are plenty of other fireworks shows nearby, as well.<br \/>\n\u2022 The Ocean Beach community fireworks display is set to go off from the Ocean Beach Pier at 9 p.m. and last roughly 20 or 25 minutes.<br \/>\n\u2022 The annual &#8220;Big Bay Boom,&#8221; which involves fireworks launched from barges placed near Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embacadero area and Seaport Village, takes place at 9 p.m.<br \/>\n\u2022 SeaWorld San Diego will host its extended display set to patriotic music at 9:30 p.m. \u2022 La Jolla Cove: 9 p.m. Other Independence Day-related activities:<br \/>\n\u2022 Old Town San Diego: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., an 1800s-themed celebration that includes a parade, crafts and activities of early San Diego, historical costumes and dancing, hat-making contest, dramatic readings and wagon rides.
