Located on two blocks of Cable Street at Newport Avenue, fairgoers will find an impressive variety of handmade arts and crafts, with a little bit of everything, from body jewelry to paintings of local scenery, tie-dyed clothing to musical instruments, even skincare and bath items, all hand-crafted. With the actual artisan on hand you\u2019ll be able to meet the person who created your items.
\n“It\u2019s really a special area,” said OBMA executive director Denny Knox. “There is something for just about everyone, and all the different vendors displays can make things very colorful.” She is happy that the Street Fair has become something that helps local artists. “For some this is the big event of the year,” she said. “It\u2019s nice to see artists who return each year and what they have that\u2019s new.”
\nArtists Alley is the perfect spot to find a unique gift, with one of a kind treasures at every booth.
\nAmongst this year\u2019s highlights are handmade hula hoops from Unity Hoops as well as a line of Victorian-influenced women’s clothing, from Pretty Fancy. However the winner of the most unusual booth promises to be Robots, featuring the works of Matt Q. Spangler, such as “paintings, prints and books of an ordinary robot, doing ordinary things.”
