{"id":293019,"date":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/fresh-start-surgical-gifts-annual-gala-raises-over-280000\/"},"modified":"2019-11-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T08:00:00","slug":"fresh-start-surgical-gifts-annual-gala-raises-over-280000","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/fresh-start-surgical-gifts-annual-gala-raises-over-280000\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh Start Surgical Gifts annual gala raises over $280,000"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">San Diego nonprofit Fresh Start Surgical Gifts raised over $280,000 at its 28th Annual Gala &lsquo;Bootleggers Ball&#8217; &mdash; surpassing its original fundraising goal of $200,000.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Held at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine, the gala featured<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dr. Greg Ostrow, director of pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley, and his wife, Dr. Stacy Ostrow, as honorary chairs. Dr. Ostrow has been a Fresh Start volunteer surgeon for 12 years.&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Of the donations given by the 240 attendees, 100% of contributions will go directly toward the organization&#8217;s medical program. The Fresh Start Medical Program provides the gift of reconstructive surgery and other healthcare services to children with physical deformities caused by congenital disabilities, accidents, abuse, or disease.&nbsp;<\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&ldquo;The Bootleggers Ball celebrated the children and families we&#8217;ve served and the many that are to come,&rdquo; said Fresh Start CEO Shari Brasher. &ldquo;With the support of our sponsors and all-volunteer team of surgeons and supporters, Fresh Start is able to provide families with the medical care they deserve.&rdquo;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Former Fresh Start patient, Callie Hill, who was born with hemangioma, served as the event&#8217;s featured speaker.
