{"id":292924,"date":"2017-02-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-20T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sdnews.com\/photo-exhibit-examines-jewish-life-throughout-the-world\/"},"modified":"2017-02-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-02-20T08:00:00","slug":"photo-exhibit-examines-jewish-life-throughout-the-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test.sdnews.com\/es\/photo-exhibit-examines-jewish-life-throughout-the-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Photo exhibit examines Jewish life throughout the world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Gotthelf Art Gallery, part of the San Diego Center for Jewish Cultures, located at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, is proud to announce its new installation, &#8220;Eye Connect: Our Global Jewish World&#8221;&#8211;a photographic show featuring the work of artists near and far as they capture images of Jewish life around the globe.<br \/>\nRandy Savarese, Art Gallery Advisor, explains, &#8220;Jews are unique in world history. Over and over again, they have been refugees &#8211; exiled, expelled and forced to flee their homes and make their way \u2013 often across deserts, oceans, and continents &#8211; to new countries. As Jews settled in foreign lands, they created what is known in history as the Jewish Diaspora which means \u2018dispersion\u2019 or \u2018scattering.\u2019 Today, Jews live in and have built communities in every corner of the world. This exhibit is a tribute to both Jewish identity and assimilation throughout the Diaspora.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe show\u2019s highlighted artist is San Francisco photographer, David Goldberg, who shares his immigrant family\u2019s journey as they begin to integrate and settle into life and culture in America. Goldberg, along with the other nine artists featured in the exhibit, explores what is both common and unique to the Jews residing in represented countries.<br \/>\nThe exhibition runs from March 1 to June 7.
