SANDAG, the City of San Diego, and the San Diego Bicycle Coalition will join community members and bike enthusiasts for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Rose Creek Bikeway, a two mile\u00a0 bike and pedestrian path separated from vehicle traffic at 9 a.m. Jan. 25 at 5070 Santa Fe St.
\nThe Rose Creek Bikeway is part of the Coastal Rail Trail, a planned continuous bike route that runs approximately 44 miles between Oceanside and Santa Fe Depot in Downtown San Diego. The Coastal Rail Trail is being constructed in segments by SANDAG and the various cities it traverses.
\nWhen completed, the Rose Creek Bikeway\u00a0 will provide a\u00a0 14-foot-wide paved path with environmentally-sensitive lighting for added public safety. The bikeway will include undercrossings at Interstate 5 and Mission Bay Drive, as well as a 260-foot-long bridge over Rose Creek.\u00a0
\nThe Rose Creek Bikeway will complete two miles\u00a0 of the Regional Bike Network. The bikeway will connect points to the north such as Sorrento Valley, University City, and UC San Diego with\u00a0 points to the south such as Mission Bay, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley, and Downtown San Diego.
\nThis segment will begin at the north end of Santa Fe Street and head south where it will connect to the existing bike path at Damon Street and Mission Bay Drive, just a short distance north of the Mike Gotch Memorial Bridge over Rose Inlet of Mission Bay.\u00a0
