For the eighth consecutive year, one of the\u00a0area’s family fitness events will take place at Liberty Station.
\nIt’s the Hungry Dog Dash, a fun-filled 5K run\/walk that features a scenic route, music and entertainment, “Top Dog” awards along with goodie bags and dog tags.
\nOrganizers even allow four-legged furry dogs (leashed) to accompany their walking owners, making it a rare opportunity for families to spend quality exercise time together.
\nThe dash begins at 8 a.m. in NTC Park, 2455 Cushing Road. Entry price is $35 per person which will increase after Feb. 2.
\nSerious\u00a0competitive\u00a0runners from around the county are also expected to participate and full results by overall and age group will be posted.
\nThe event is a fundraiser for the Point Loma High School cross country team, one that recently won league championships in both boys and girls divisions.\u00a0

\nAlso featured in the day’s festivities are food, drinks and a chance for local small businesses to promote themselves. Those wishing to set up a tent in the Vendor Village should contact organizers at plhsxcountry@gmail.com.
\nPre-race packets can be picked up Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at event supporter Dick’s Sporting Goods, 3265 Sports Arena Blvd. Day-of-race packets will be available at 7 a.m. Feb. 3 at the race site.
