The New Year is here and if you\u2019re making resolutions, make this the year you put Fido and Fluffy at the top of your list so 2019 gets off to a “pawsitive” start.
\nNeed an extra incentive? If you live in the unincorporated area and get a new license for your dog in January, County Animal Services will throw in a rabies vaccination for free.
\nDon\u2019t live in the unincorporated area? You can still obtain a rabies vaccination, and a microchip too, but the fee will be $25 for each service.
\nCounty Animal Services has seven tips for the New Year: \u2022 Make sure both your dog and cat are vaccinated against rabies; \u2022 License your dog; \u2022 Register your dog and cat with Finding Rover, which can help you find them if they\u2019re lost; \u2022 Microchip your dogs, cats and rabbits. If they\u2019re already microchipped, make sure your information is current; \u2022 Get your dog and cat spayed or neutered; \u2022 Create a disaster plan for your pets; \u2022 Give your pet attention, play catch with your dog, toss a toy to your cat and have fun. Appointments aren\u2019t necessary for microchips or rabies vaccinations. Stop by at either one of the County\u2019s two shelter locations in Carlsbad or Bonita during normal business hours.
