This year\u2019s theme is &#8220;There\u2019s Magic in the Air,&#8221; appropriate considering that every ticket purchase will help create magic for homeless animals at the shelter. Well-behaved, leashed canine companions are invited to join their owners at the 17th annual gala, which is presented by the PETCO Foundation. Event schedule: VIP Reception is from 4 to 5 p.m., including auction preview, specialty wines, hors d&#8217;oeuvres, music by award-winning blues musician Tomcat Courtney and private show by magician Joel Ward. General admission is at 5 p.m., including silent auction, hors d&#8217;oeuvres, hosted wine and beer, and entertainment by Tomcat Courtney. Dinner, live auction and entertainment are from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Cost: VIP tickets are $200 per person or $2,000 for a table for 10; regular tickets are $100 per person or $1,000 for a table for 10.
