After nearly three years of research, development, and outreach, San Diego Audubon is releasing four draft final plans for wetlands restoration in northeast Mission Bay 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at Mission Bay High School, 2475 Grand Ave. Guests may join this open house event at their convenience and stay as long as they\u2019d like.
\nLast fall, the public provided input on eight possible designs, which ReWild Mission Bay has refined down to four final options. The project, lead by San Diego Audubon in collaboration with the State Coastal Conservancy and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, enhances and restores up to 170 acres of wetlands at the mouth of Rose Creek, near Crown Point. San Diego Audubon invites residents for one more round of public comment before finalizing ReWild Mission Bay\u2019s four design plans and presenting them to the City of San Diego. Mission Bay attracts more than 14 million visitors each year. Its wetlands supply habitat for hundreds of local wildlife species (including several endangered species), protect San Diego from climate change impacts such as flooding, and improve water quality.
